Which do you think has a greater impact?

People on earth or earth on people. Explain your answer.

Without the earth, people wouldn't exist.  Without people, the earth would carry on as always.  However, I think we give the earth more meaning, since I believe sentience increases the value of the universe.  Others may disagree, and probably will.

Earth on people, it has given us all the resources and the ability to rework the planet, but then again, we are still under its power. Earthquakes, volcanoes, they could all destroy huge chunks of our society in a second.

Pretty much equal. On one hand, we wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Earth. But on the other hand, we do affect our planet to a certain extent. But if I had to choose one, I would say earth affects us more.
