  1. Preschool environment.

  2. It depends on the home day care and the preschool...

If the home day care teacher does activities and keeps the kids busy and active then home day care is fine...but if the TV is on all day...and the instructor is on the couch all day then it is not a good place for your child...Also if your child is 4 and the rest of the kids are under 2 then it is not good socially for your child. Kids need some kids around their age...even if it is seeing them at the park 3 times a week.   Also if the day care is not licensed they may have more kids and that is not good for any of the kids.

As far as a group school goes...again is it licensed if so then there is a better chance of it being better.....does the school offer open ended activities?  are the classrooms with in ratio of your state? Do they have loving teachers?  It is good for a child to be around kids of their own age especially if they are 4 and going to Kindergarten next year as it helps them there.

There really is not better than the other as long as both are regulated and licensed.

  3. honestly it depends.....because there are preschools out there that aren't that great and there are family home child cares that aren't that great as well...it's up to you and you should visit both to see which one you like the best.

Also, it depends on the age as well...infants do better in smaller settings as they need more attention.

BTW, some family child care homes have their own preschool enviroments :)

  4. I don't think you can generalize which one is better. It has to do with the daycare of preschool. What they have to offer, the Teacher, etc. I have worked in some awesome Preschools and some really bad ones. Same with home daycares. If it is a small daycare it may be better for a baby that needs a lot of one on one or a special needs child. If you are planning on sending your child to Public School then a School environament might be best to prepare them.

  5. A home environment is probably better until they are 3 or 4 years old and are a couple of years from starting school. Then a preschool will teach them what they need to learn to be ready for Kindergarten. I have 3 boys of my own and my mother was a foster mother for 20+ years before teaching preschool for another 15+ years.

  6. If you're asking my opinion, the simple answer is Preschool.  Any LICENSED preschool will have regular inspections (both announced and unannounced), and are mandated to follow regulations regarding such things as cleaning, supervision, training, etc.  Many home daycares are licensed as well, so don't let that be your only decision making factor.  The idea of home daycares, as a whole, creeps me out.  Typically there is only one childcare provider, and do you really know what goes on behind closed doors?  While I'm sure that the vast majority of home childcare providers are wonderfully loving and nurturing professionals... there's always that small percentage who aren't.  The question becomes if you're willing to drop your child off into someone's home and walk away.  If you're comfortable with that, great.  If you're not (and boy do you need to trust your gut on this one!), run away.

  7. It depends on the child. I always thought home daycare, I knew the person VERY WELL, and I trusted her. But, when I put my son in a pre school, his vocabulary improved dramatically because the teachers were working more with his speech, and he has more kids to talk to, when they are around only a few kids, they all start to have the same speech difficulties (same lisp, same word said wrong). So it kind of changed my mind to preschool. Either way, it all depends on the childs ability to adjust to change, and what they and you are more comfortable with.

    (hope it helped)

  8. As a teacher I chose home daycare bacause if I couldn't be home with them I didn't want them to be regimented. They already have to grow up so fast. But I was lucky my care provider ran classes as soon as  it was age appropriate. She had mostly teachers' children so always asked for advice

  9. It depends on the people who are working at the center or home daycare.  It is very important to do background checks through your city health department, possibly check with the schools, colleges, neighbors, etc.  Plus, always do drop-in visits so you see exactly how things are run and how the children are treated.

  10. It depends on the child and the program. Some home day care programs offer an excellent program with a little more warmth and individual attention than may be possible in a pre-school. On the other hand, preschoold usually offer more equipment and opportunities for experiences. Some kids have a hard time in a large group, some much prefer it. It gets more complicated because some pre-schools are traditional nursery schools and some are actually day care. Look at lots of programs and see which would be best for your child.

  11. Preschool. In home daycares usually aren't required to have strutured learning plans or teaching .But, for daycare, I always used an in home.

  12. Both.  Depends on the individual looking for either home or daycare.  The caregiver must like working with children.  Of course, that is a major critical factor in either situation working for the child.

  13. definately preschool environment, it helps to break the bond parents and children have and gets them ready for school also, from experience it even helps build their immune system to all the colds and sicknesses that children bring around them.  ALSO if you are looking into one of these and go with preschool daycare, start your child on vitamin C it helps!!!!!!!!!
