Which do you think is more normal? Less healthy?

Masochistic personality disorder, or sexual masochism? (Please don't report this, I'm not asking just to be explicit, I just want opinions on an honest question that happens to relate to s*x.)

you need to look it up in the bible for psychologists its called the dsm 4 or DSM1V.  it is the Manuel for all 304 psychological disorders ... its awesome i read all time... they have copies at library of at a book store

I actually do not believe neither Masochistic personality disorder nor sexual masochism falls in the category of healthy. Both represent errors in behavior.

It is difficult for me to choose which I feel is worse (or less healthy). I am going to say the sexual masochism is worse. Those displaying sexual masochism have a sexual fantasy (urge, desire) for humiliation, unnatural pain and suffering during sexual activities. Some of these include gagging and choking (to the point of unconscious), urinating, defecating and physical abuse during sexual activities.

With Masochistic personality disorder is a disorder that is categorized by self-defeating behavior (basically almost like sexual masochism, but in different circumstances). It is not healthy for the individual and basically the person with this personality disorder really puts themselves at a low. The only reason I have choose sexual masochism as the worse is because the individual can perpetrate their desires upon another individual they are involved in during sexual circumstance and harm another individual, rather than just the self. But, to be very clear I think both are harmful behaviors and I would put neither in a healthy category.
