  1. 1.

  2. 3 is what I use. Its so much more effective than 1. Which I know A LOT of coaches teach #1 for some weird reason. But if your given a hard driven ball, your hands will most likely come apart. Plus number three is what most olympic athletes use. Including the Libero for the USA olympic team and she is a GREAT volleyball player!

  3. I use one. I don't think it matters how you place your hands, but i think 1 is the most comfortable for me.

  4. The first one is the one I use it's more effective and easier to do if you get a ball. I shank it less often too.

  5. 1. its not about ur hands it about ur forearms. because ur forearms is where the ball should bounce of off

  6. 1 is best.

3 is ok, but not great.

2 and 4 are very bad.

And I'm pretty sure the U.S. Libero uses 1 not 3.

Some of you say that hand positioning is not that important, but it actually is. Hand position dictates what your platform will look like.

  7. use number three.... it gives u the best platform and u can decide where the ball shall go

  8. the 1st and 3rd are the ways that you can that every single coach has told me but the other ones don't work

  9. It honestly doesn't matter how your hands are positioned. My hands are normal positioned like yours are in your third picture. But the ball should be hitting your forearms not your hands. It's really whichever way feels most comfortable to you. It's all about comfort, especially when it doesn't hit your hands that much.

  10. Number one, absolutely not number 4..

and i'll explain why. number one has your forearms flatter, and more even, giving you a more controlled pass. number 4 if you look at it, you can see how uneven your forearms are, meaning that the ball could fly anyhere!!

  11. 3

  12. Pic number one. As long as your thumbs are even, and pointed towards the floor, this gives a flat surface for the ball 2 hit off of,i use number one and it makes it easy 2 go over net, and 4 the setter 2 make nice sets that i can smack! ( middle hitter)

  13. i use 3, but they're all good (except 4), whichever you choose should be comfortable for you, but some coaches make you do it their way and don't give you a choice

  14. I use number one! :]

  15. As some of the answers above said, it is not how your hands are positioned.  However, they did not stress that pictures 2 and 4 have hand positions that cause poor platforms.  You will have to lean your body in order to make those platforms straight.

Pictures 1 and 3 both have flat forearm platforms.  It would be a matter of preference.  As long as you do not lock your fingers and your platform is straight, you will learn to pass well.  (I saw someone that had their fingers LOCKED.  They were a great passer because their platform was straight.  However, their fingers were also locked when they tripped and fell to the ground.  She broke all of the fingers on her right had.  One of the worst volleyball injuries that I have seen.  Do not lock your fingers.)

  16. number 1 and number 3 are pretty much the same but i have to say number 1

  17. number 3 is what i use

  18. I use 3 and it works fine for me. I play frontrow though, so I dont pass all that much.

    Ive never seen 4

  19. Number 1. It creates a flatter platform on your forearms so that you have more control over the ball. Just remember to roll your wrists down and bend while passing! To get to the ball quicker and make a great pass, shuffle your feet. Don't run because it will distract you from passing. Plus, shuffling is quicker and you can see the ball more clearly.
