  1. Guilty until proven innocent. Simply because society seems to believe everything they hear or read in the media, or even gossip.  The reason is the seemingly personality of a person.  What ever the crime, it may seem to fit them based on their past behavior.

  2. I don't think I've heard that phrase - "Innocent until proven guilty" - in a long time.  Society makes up its mind on VERY small impressions and then runs with it.

I've also noticed that the Republicans have been particularly adroit at exploiting this aspect of American ambivalence/hypocrisy.  They think before they say, but pretend as if they say before they think.  When they say things that are inaccurate, they can apologize or back-peddle while eating sh*t, but the damage is already done and they know it.

Definitely guilty until proven innocent when it comes to the public eye.  In court, I'd like to think otherwise, but the jury is the public, right?

It's so frustrating.  I'm a Democrat, and I'm frustrated with how the liberal bloggers have treated the Palin situation.  Why is it that we (Americans) are hypocritical when convenient, but love to point it out in others.  It's hypocrisy on hypocrisy...it's so tiring.  I can't wait till this election is over...enjoying it to a degree, but I'm starting to get really irritated with the nonsense, and with the fact that we, as Americans, as so g*d* complacent with the games.
