  1. Golden Retrievers require more grooming, esp when they're shedding.

Labs are mostly short(er) hair dogs.

Besides this, I'd give them equal scores. My personal pref would be a Labrador. They're a little larger and don't require the grooming.

  2. ok they're basically the same dog. both great dogs with little difference.

    here info on goldens

i have a lab and hes great. both breed are loyal, easy to train, great with kids. the only physical difference is the length of hair. golden shed more then labs.

but getting both is also great because when your not home they will be great company for ea other.

  3. Better for what in particular? Hunting? Obedience? Companionship?

Each breed has their merits and differences, and only you know what you are looking for in a dog. I suggest that you contact the breed clubs of both breeds for more information, then if possible, spend time with a breeder and their dogs of each breed so that you can get a feel for what each one is like on a personal basis.

  4. i have a black lab pup and he sheds little black hairs but the retrievers hair comes away in clumps so that would be the only downside if your not into hoovering much!!!!! but both breeds are absoloutly fantastic animals and if you can afford both that would be brilliant. i will get my golden retriever when my kids get a bit bigger but our lab is fabulous and cant have both now as its enough work with two kids under 4 and a lab pup!! best of luck!!

  5. I like labs, but there are such things as golden lab mixes. I think that labs are better because, first of all I own one, and they are the most friendly, active, and loyal companions you will ever get. Their temperaments are pretty similar with goldens, but one difference that you might want to keep in mind is that labs have shorter hair which means that you don't have to constantly make trips to the expensive groomer.

  6. both breeds are family dogs, they are both active and well tempered.

to me I say that the Lab is better, for the simple fact that they require less grooming than retrievers. Retrivers need to be brushed frequently, where as labs, have nice short coats which can be maintained so much easrier. A simple brush with a short rubber mit, works wonders. But both make great pets.

  7. labrador and golden retriever are both very sweetie dogs get both

  8. Both are great breeds.  No one can make a decision for you.  The real question is which breed do YOU like best.  If you want one of each then do that.  Read everything you can find on both breeds and talk to breeders then make up YOUR OWN MIND.

Anything that anyone here says is their opinion, not yours.

  9. both are very well behaved and good dogs why don't u buy both of them so one of them doesn't get lonely and has a companion to spend time or play with?

  10. ..

  11. Personally, I like labs.  Golden's have longer hair and need more grooming.  Labs are more food motivated.  They are both easy to train and are very smart.  i'm raising a lab for guiding eyes for the blind now and i have 1 in training.  labs are great dogs but a lot of work as puppies.  good luck.

  12. they are both very gentle good temperd smart dogs. Goldens are more maintanance. I have had both breeds are love them equally.

  13. there are differences in the breeds.  There is not some magical standing that lists dogs as better or worse.  They are both retrievers, I suggest you do research on both breeds and then either look through rescues (you can find a list of rescues at petfinder.com) or contact a breeder.  But please do research before looking for a dog.  Its just like buying a car, you don't buy one without doing research.

  14. Start out with just one, since buying two breeds might be a challenge at first. Which one should you buy? Well, both are great dogs but I'd go for the Golden Retriver. They are easier to train and had very few reports on bad behavoir, etc. Read the "Marley and Me" book and you'll get a clear idea on how Labrador dogs can turn out to be! Golden Retrivers are amazing dogs... you can't go wrong with them!

  15. i like labs, but buying both would be a good idea too i guess.

  16. Some Labs tend to be a bit on the hyper side. Although I did have a huge Lab and he was super mellow. But I've also seen a couple of hyper Goldens, but they tend to be a bit more mellow. Labs shed alot and Goldens need brushing to keep their fur from matting up. Both are good with children/pets if properly socialized. Both breeds are pretty similar, so do research on both and see which one you like the best

  17. Better in what sense?

  18. how about whatevrt dog needs a home

  19. Um I think Golden retrievers, because Labradors are the worst breed you can get, for Chewing - like sofas, etc.
