  1. A happy dog with a great disposition makes my heart light up.  I've been around a Pug and they are very sweet, but Terriers of all kinds are my favorite.  There are two West Highland Terriers where I live and they are fluffy white furr balls that like to bark a squirrel up a tree!  They crack me up.  If you're in an apartment, you may want to go with a smaller dog.  I would go to a shelter and see in person what dogs you like and how they take to you.  You may find a Pug Mix, Terrier Mix, full blooded of one or something all together different.  Maltese dogs have a good disposition and are sweet dogs too.  Make sure your apartments don't have breed or size restrictions and what the pet deposit is.  Pet deposits are usually based on how much the dog weighs.  Good luck!

  2. Personally I love Weimaraners, I own one and love them.  However, yes, Fox Terriers are adorable.  We just rescued one from a shelter and she is currently in a foster home but she is so beautiful, she has a black head white body with black patches and is the sweetest puppy.  I've attached a link.  But mostly and don't tell my Weim but I originally wanted to get a pomeranian because I just think they are adorable.

  3. My heart goes out to those little pugs. Not the puggles, although they are cute, but I love pugs. My grandma raised them, and they are just so cute and loveable. I love it when they snore, it's so funny! But, besides pugs, I have found great dogs at shelters. They might be mutts, but they're the best companion you'll ever find. And they're incredibly grateful, they will never forget that you gave them a second chance. They're very loyal and always right there.

  4. dashound

  5. If those are the 2 choices, then Fox Terrier.

Puggles are nothing but mutts with high price tags and fancy names.  They are bred by Backyard Greeders and Puppy Mills out to make a buck on unsuspecting people that think they're getting a new "Special" breed of dog.  Don't support unethical breeding practices by buying one.

Oh - Aussies (Australian Shepherds) are the Breed that lights up my heart.  I've owned Aussies for 30+ years.

  6. u wld rather hab a sickly dawg than a hlthy cutez dawgy from da shelta? u wnt a mutt not a dawg. i surgest going toz da shelta n finding a dawg dat needs da home. ooookay?

(Durn. only 14 missspelling. how many did you get?) ;)

  7. If you go to your local shelter, I am sure they will have a cross with a puggle/beagle....or fox terrier.  I am not going to tell you if they fit into your lifestyle or not...as you will find out soon enough if it does or not.  I think if you get in there and see a cute small dog you might want to call it your own...and it will love you for forever.  They are so happy when you take them home.  Also just remember terriers like to get varmints...and puggles have hunting instincts in them..so they will need a lot of exercise.  I have had a beagle when I was young and loved her to pieces....but she wanted to hunt....and her drive was strong towards it..so that is all I wanted to say to you about that part of owning a puggle.

The dog that lights up my life of course would be my own two....Pembroke Corgi's.  They are small but big hearted and give the best kisses and they smile.  What more could I ask for?  Also any dog that can withstand the abuse of us humans and come out happy with another family and have trust.  Good luck in your search of a new addition to the family

  8. Well, I love beagles.  LOL.  I just think they are the best dogs ever.  They are very friendly and they love to play and be cuddled and are always eager to please.  I love my beagles - they make me laugh every day.

Oh and I got mine from a shelter.  They were small puppies.  I don't know about yours, but the shelters in my area often have a lot of beagles (which are part of the "puggle" mix).  So I think you would have a lot of luck there. :)

Good luck with your new dog - whatever kind you decide on!  :)

  9. Ive never owned a dog for its breed, all mine have come from animal shelters and ive gone for the one that takes to me best.

You do need to think on your lifestyle and a dog, would it be alone for long, how often can you walk it etc.

I currently have a 10 year old german shepherd, i love the breed. Id love to get another dog but i want a small one this time.

Pugs are beautiful dogs but your best bet is to research each breed, what diseases they are prone to etc. My dog has been on glucosamine since i got him, as i know the german shepherd get bad hips. At 10 you would think hes still a puppy!

  10. Honestly, breed doesn't matter. I want to suggest to you going to a shelter and looking at small breeds of dogs. I'll bet you they have pug/beagle mixes in there, and fox terrier mixes also. And if they don't, you might find one that makes your heart light up anyway. :] Good luck.

  11. I wouldn't suggest going to a shelter. I got a 3  month old lab pup from a shelter in January and a few days after I had her home she became really sick. Turns out Distemper had been going around the shelter and the people who worked there knew about it, but neglected to tell me this. She got so bad that I had to have her put down. If you go to the shelter make sure you do a good check and ask if Kennel Cough is going around. The vet the shelter hired to look at my pup tried to tell me it was just Kennel Cough and would go away. Make sure you listen to how the pup breathes and if it coughs at all.

Breed wise though...pug! Pugs are so adorable. You would just need to make sure you bathed it properly and sometimes they develop breathing problems.
