I am trying to choose between a Cleveland Hibore XL or a Adams XTD A3 Driver but can't decided. I am a very high handicapper so maybe someone that has tried both could tell me. Thanks!!

  1. no bother

  2. Personally I have never liked the Cleveland Driver product. But you need to get into a testing situation to get the real data for your personal case. I would measure the dispursion in a hitting simulator at Golfsmith or see a pro with a launch monitor. Compare the ball speed off of the face with the sidespin data  and trajectory against each club with a pro's input - this should answer your question.

  3. if you're a high handicapper, it doesn't really matter right now what driver you use; in fact many pros will tell you that you shouldn't even use a driver (it's too long/hard to control, etc) and a 3 wood would serve your needs better; better it should go less far, but stay more in play. Besides, if a hole isn't 450 yards, even the pros keep the driver in the bag.

getting back to the driver, you need to figure out if you want high loft, low loft, etc and start there.

  4. It does not matter a bit what someone else has experienced with a particular club!  What matters is which one you , yourself, hit the best.  Hit them all on a launch monitor at a good golf store.  The data will tell you which is best for you and your particular swing.

  5. i have played them both. get the adams. i hit it 20-25 yards further than the hibore xl. at golfsmith, the adams is only like 20 or so bucks more expensive, so get the adams.

  6. cleveland or the corbas9 i have been golfing since i have 18 and have used nothing but cleveland or corba s9

  7. I love the Hibore very forgiving but havent tried the Adams

  8. I have the Adams A3 3-wood and love it.  Haven't hit the driver but I'm sure it's great.

I would suggest, though, a high MOI square driver such as the Calaway FT-i or Nike Sumo Squared.  There's a big difference in off-center hits with these drivers.   They go straighter and farther then a conventional driver when you miss the sweet spot.

  9. A buddy of mine has the Cleveland, which I've hit a few times....I like it and he loves the thing. I'm in agreement with the other 2 answers here that you need to go the launch monitor route....assuming your swing is repeatable enough to warrant it. It'll be the best $25-$45 you've spent so far on your game. If your swing is not semi-repeatable yet, bear in mind that most golf retailers now will give you some sort of playabilty window for 30 or so days where if you don't like the product you bought, you've got 30 days to return it and have a credit applied to something else. www.tgw.com has this policy & www.golfsmith.com has a 90 day/90% credit polciy. Good luck!
