it depends on what you consider high cholesterol. There are two types in your body: LDL (bad) and HDL(good). Also there is many types of cholesterol lowering drugs on the market. Many of which have different mechanisms of action. (metabolism-vs- blocking absorption....and so on.) also, remember meds have side effects- so if you have underlying issues- renal failure, liver failure, hypertension, diabetes...then some meds may actually hurt you more.
