Ok so i have extreme anxiety and i've been doing research on all the medications. But im still not sure which would be best for anxiety. Ativan, Klonopin, Xanax, or Valium. Which one do you take and does it work well? I want the most effective one, but one i can take for a long period of time. My doctor will let me suggest which one i want so i need some of your help please..... ! Thanks in advance! :)

  1. All 4 have potential for physical addiction when taken long term.  They should only be stopped under a doctors supervision and recommendation as abrupt stopping could cause some serious problems.  Of the four you listed I like ativan the best.  Can cause some sleepiness, especially in the beginning, as can all four of these.  If you are only going to take occassionally then physical addiction should not be a problem.  I would ask the doctor for a choice that is not addictive if you are going to take every day.

Many of the antidepressant meds are good for anxiety also and are being used that way so you should have some non-addictive choices(antidepressants are mostly non-addictive).

  2. man to be honest i would take xanax its off the hook i dnt have anxiety problems but when i took it i felt really good! The best is the 2.0 yellow school bus i have had the white 1.0 but it wasnt nothing!

  3. Klonopin is what I take and it work!

  4. Xanax and Klonopin make me very very sleepy, but I get tired when I take Tylenol.  My mom is on Klonopin, and they work wonders for her!  Valium sucks.

  5. Valium is more for nerves, the rest of which to mentioned are addictive and dont need to be taken for a long period of time but do very well ,now paxil is a very good drug that is not addictive and is very good for anxiety and can be used long turm.
