Which dvd player that has 1080p(hdmi) will be able to connect to an RCA surround sound system to get surround?

Ok, I have a Westinghouse 32" LCD/HDTV model: SK-32H240S

that supposedly support resolution all the way up to 1080p, I want to get a dvd player that supports 1080p which usually means it will have an HDMI output istead of the regular red, white and yellor wires, but the thing is I also want to be able to get surround sound from the dvd player through my RCA RTD207 surround sound system

Is this possible, do I need certain wires or a whole new surround sound system too?

Your surround sound system does not have a digital audio input; nor does it have separate inputs for each of the 5.1 channels of Dolby Digital.  This means you cannot hook up an  external DVD player of any type (whether or not it has HDMI) to get Dolby Digital surround.

You will need to replace the A/V receiver portion of your system with one that has a digital audio (either co-ax or optical) input and Dolby decoder.  You could probably use the existing speakers.

All up-converting and high-def DVD players have digital audio outputs, even if they also have HDMI outputs.

Some A/V receivers accept the HDMI signal as input and will have an HDMI output to the TV.  In this case, the sound will be taken from the HDMI signal and a separate digital audio connection is not needed.  However, you don't really need that, so you may be able to find an older A/V  receiver that does not handle HDMI but does have digital audio input.  That would no doubt cost less.

Make sure that whatever receiver you get will accept whatever output the DVD player provides.   Some players only have optical, some have both coax and optical.  Most receivers have both, but make sure you have a match.

EDIT:  I looked at the items you selected and those would be an excellent combination.  The A/V receiver will take the digital sound signal from the HDMI output of the DVD player, decode it, and send it to your speakers.
