  1. Yeah everyone's right. The strings go EADGBE from top to bottom if you are holding the guitar regularly. Tabs flip them, putting the thinnest string on the top line and the thickest on bottom.

  2. The low E string is the one that sounds the lowest, the deepest. It's the "bottom" string, it is the thickest of all of the strings, and if you're strumming with your right hand and holding the neck with your left, it will be the string that is closest to your face.

The high E string is the one that sounds the highest, and so thus is the "high" E string. It is the thinnest of all of the strings, and is the string that is closest to the k***s and switches on the guitar.

It's kinda hard to explain without a picture. =)

  3. TAB has the bass strings at the bottom.  Standard guitar tuning is, (lowest to highest) EADGBE.  TAB shows the strings as though the guitar was strung for a right handed player, lying sound hole up in your lap, with the headstock on the left.

  4. the thickest string is the e before the a.

in tabs it's usually written as 'E' and the thinnest one is a small e

  5. If you are holding the guitar in your lap, the strings go as followed...

    e-a-d-g-b-e.

  6. The thickest string (the one closest to you) is going to be the bottom e on the tab. While the thin string (the one furthest away from you) is the top e on the tab.
