Right, i have been playing the electric guitar for 2 years now, and since then my only guitar has been a Fender Stratocaster, but its getting old & worn now and i am looking to get a new one (but not a fender) here is what i was looking at;

Gibson Les Paul studio,

Or Epiphone Goth explorer.

But which one? I play guitar covers like, MCR & FOB & Dragonforce.

  1. i'd say an epiphone, but your really better off with still playing fender

    Gibson has a kind off jazz sound

  2. I own a Les Paul and a Epi explorer.

    The Gibson is a better quality guitar and more versatile and if you play guitar for several years, your styles and tastes most likely will change over time.  The Gibson can pretty much handle any situation including metal to jazz to country, punk, whatever.  Some models are kind of heavy and more expensive.

    Epiphone is owned by Gibson and produces great quality Korean made versions of Gibsons.  The Goth Explorer, because of the look is killer for heavy rock and metal, etc.  I have a Korina wood Explorer and I love it.  You would just look funny if you sat in on a jazz session with one though.

    So basically get a Gibson if that's gonna be your guitar for a while and you have the money.

    Get the Epiphone if you want to rock out and are watching your budget more.  The epi is still fine for just about any music though.  You can't go wrong with either because both play and sound good.  Gibson a bit better.

    When I bought my Epi explorer, I put in Gibson pickups.  Check the site Harmonycentral.com for tons of user reviews.

  3. I have a fender too and mines getting pretty bashed up, I understand that if you are buying a new guitar you want it to be perfect as they do cost a lot of money, personally I like Gibson's and I think this type of guitar would defiantly go with your type of music. Good Luck with your playing :D

  4. Its sound like you are into the speed metal stuff and if thats the case they all seem to use Ibanez. I personally don't like them but if you get one that is expensive enough, its worth it. I would look into an ESP which sounds awesome for that stuff. But if you are going to pick something from these two then you can't go wrong with Gibson. I use Epiphone myself. Both are Excellent. Hope this helps.

  5. Why would you want to move from a guitar with a basic "rock" tone to one with a basic "jazz" tone if you play MCR & FOB & Dragonforce covers? Does that make any sense?
