  1. Civil Engineering........

With civil engineering you are more flexible and not locked in to a specific type. You can do buildings, highways, steel structures plus whatever you can think of. You can work along side architects. Whereas like Marine/Maritime Engineering it deals strictly with boats, ships, submarines, etc. I don't about you, but I have have did a little marine (BORING).

After Civil I would recommend Electrical/Instrumentation Engineering.

    Then Chemical

Out of the 2 E/I Pays better down the road. Go to www.careerbuilder.com or www. monster.com for refereneces on pay rates.

  2. Bio med. I wish I had gone that route when I had the chance. I was a graduate ME, and a benevolent MD offered to send me to med school. I turned it down; married with a good engineering job in hand. But, it hasn't been all bad.

  3. I would recommend Chemical and Process but chemistry is what I really liked in school.

Remember, Engineering is taking pure science (i.e. chemistry, biology) and applying it to real life situations.  Chemical engineering is all about energy transfer, large scale reactions, making sure things are safe and do not explode.  You must have a good knowledge of chemistry to build these processes.

But it completely depends on what your interests are.  If you like computers a lot, go for computer science - If you care a lot about the environment and want to help, go that route.

Whatever you choose,  make sure the basic science that it is built off of is something that you really enjoy - otherwise engineering can be a bit of a drag because the work is difficult and can be disheartening at times.  You have to make sure it is something you will enjoy or you will have a tough time pushing through the grunt classes.

  4. Mechanical...With this type of study you understand how things work and how they are built. It teaches you the theory behind energy production and encompasses many different types of engineering.
