Which exercise routine can help me lose weight faster and why?

One hour cardio dancing a day only 5 times a week or

One hour cardio dancing a day only 5 times a week and strength training 30 minutes 3 times a week?

or its just the same? as my goal is to lose weight many, honestly speaking im 80 lbs overweight man and im planning to lose, most of my friends discourage me to weight training bcause it wont work for an overfat guy like me. They said i must do cardio more focused and as soon as i drop my fats thats the only time i should start weight lifting for it will never grow any muscle until i lose much of my body fats is this true? please any advices will do. thanks and more power

  1. Option 2 would be great. Strength training will help to reshape your body and you'll be adding muscle, which is active tissue so you'll spend more time burning calories when at rest. Vary your routine though so you don't get bored and stop. Your body will adapt fairly quickly so be prepared for that too. Have fun. I've been working out a long time and I don't always enjoy it but I do try to make it fun. Make up games. Sometimes playing mind games helps to get you into the right mode and you'll get more from your workout.

  4. Cardio and Weight Training will shed pounds faster. You will be keeping the calories burning faster and longer. You will not see much results with the weight training until some of the fat is shed, but more muscles will help your cardio routine.

  5. The second option is the best.  Whoever tells you lifting weights won't help you lose weight is either ignorant or a fool.

    Your body burns more calories when lifting weights than doing aerobics for the same period of time.  When you stop doing aerobics the calorie burn returns to normal, but when you are done lifting weights, your body has to begin the repair process so your body continues to burn calories at an accelerated rate.  

    I'm going to recommend you two books:

    Body for Life by Bill Phillips

    Ultra-Metabolism by Dr. Mark Hyman

    Body for life will teach you how to exercise and eat, and Ultra-Metabolism will teach you what to eat and why.

    Body for life recommends Lifting 3 times a week and Aerobics 3 times a week.  Combined with 5 or 6 small meals each day in order for your body keep your metabolism active all day long.  You can also go to www.bodyforlife.com for more information.

    Ultra-Metabolism will teach you that eating lean protein, beans, nuts, seeds, fruits, veggies and whole grains will help your body lose weight naturally.  And to avoid processed foods, High Fructose Corn Syrup and Transfats.

    Now that is a solid plan for losing weight and keeping it off.
