  1. many..like friends..teachers..and more..

  2. parenting skills of parents. financial well being of parents. family environment. social environment. affects of siblings. place within the family. special needs. nutrition. medical conditions.

  3. Whether the child attends pre-school, the number of other children there, what/how they are taught If they don't attned pre-school, the quality of care they have at home or at nursery/childminder. How many other children are around them - siblings or friends or other chidlren at childminder.

The support and care they receive at home, the praise they get, the type of activities they take part in, sports, toddler groups, dance, music etc.

  4. A loving stable home. The amount of sleep they get. The amount of time spent with an adult learning to speak well by listening to stories and talking about things around them. Time spent with other children developing their imaginative play and learning to share their toys. Learning to be away form home for short periods by attending a preschool setting. Any type of handicap will affect thier developmnet.

  5. all of the previous respondents answers are somewhat of a correct answer but you need to remove the financial well being as even people of lower/lowest fincacial standings can and do have excellent enviornments for their children.

one of the most significant factors in a childs development is the parent factor.....do they excite a child about school, do they encourage the child to learn as much as they can without pushing them, do they give them multiple options in which they can learn(do they go to parks, libraries, museums, answer questions, show interest in what the child is interested in and help them answer ? about that topic, etc)..even people who dont have lots of money for "special classes" can encourage their childs learning and development...the most important "subject" for any "parental figure" to encourage in their childs life is the "love" of reading/books.....once a child is interested in reading/books a childs world is fully open....they can read about or look at things they cannot touch/smell/hear(but even this can be done at a library)....

a teacher/daycare provider/family member who takes care of a child/children is also very important to a childs development when a child is away from their "parental figure"....they are the ones who give the child oppurtunites when the parent cannot, and they are the ones who assist with things like alternate ideas like social skills(as this is most often when a child is in either a small or large group)......they can also expand on topics the parents either do not know about or have little experience with, they can also monitor the child for any delays whether they be small and insignifcant or ones where the child may need more assistance with.......

and finally the child can influence their own development....in as much as they can feel the need for more knowledge...and for the drive to continue to learn

  6. Nutrition.

  7. Attitude, attitude, attitude. Yours, your child's, and your child's pre-school teacher. My pre-school teacher was Montessori-style, and my siblings were not. I am more outgoing  and better at finishing assignments without complaining than they are. Granted they are perceived as overall more intelligent than I am, I had a better time of elementary and high school than they did.

They were in a religious pre-school. Really be careful with what is taught to your child at those ones. It can be highly confusing to them.
