  1. shape..

    if i remember well

  2. c) shape, definitely, but also b) size. The enzyme-substrate complex ([ES]) is a three-dimensional 'lock-and'key' type of interaction that requires a very specific interaction between the two. These interactions are both hydrophobic and hydrophilic in nature and line up the substrate in the optimal position for the enzyme to do it's work. This is why I chose both answers 'c' and 'b'...'c', definitely, because the enzyme shape is most important but I also chose 'b', because size and shape are related. If you have to chose only one answer, then choose answer 'c'...

    Hope this helps!
