  1. i used Dr. Brown's but they have alot of pieces and if you are tired after a long day its a long wash. But if you have a dishwasher, you should try them, just know that you can't shake them, you have to mix the formula with a spoon or fork, which on a trip or outing is tedious.

  2. We received all sorts of bottles / brand at our baby shower and as other gifts...so luckily we didn't spend much of our own money to try as many as we have.  I breastfeed and give expressed milk in bottles.  We are also lucky that our baby is not picky and goes between the breast and just about any bottle without any protest.

The Dr.Brown's bottles are good for reducing air consumption, but they are hard to get really clean with all the vent bits that have tiny crevices.  That bothered me.

We went on an overseas trip when my son was 10 weeks and we got a playtex nurser so we didn't have to sterilize anything but the nipples / rings and caps.  They are nice - help the baby not gulp air while eating - and you throw away the liner.  If you are on a budget, buy the store brand liners.

Out of all we have tried (my son is now 4 months) we prefer the evenflo classic bottles (glass and BPA-free plastic), and the green-to-grow bottles.

My son liked the Soothie bottles but they are made of polycarbonate and may contain BPA.  After researching BPA we decided to not take any chances.  You don't have to spend a lot to get BPA bottles.

It really comes down to your personal needs and preferences - and your baby's preferences!  You are probably better off sticking with one brand / type of bottle - it will be easier on your baby and your wallet.

Here are some good websites for information:

    http://www.safemama.com

Safe Mama has all sorts of information on the safety of all sorts of baby products.  It has some good cheat sheets to help you shop for bottles.

This website has a nice PDF chart that summaries many bottles on the market - lets you compare bottles and gives estimated prices.  I found it helpful.  There are also links to other articles that I found helpful.

  3. Born Free glass bottles.  No bad chemicals.

  4. I liked the Dr. Brown bottles the best and now the have the BPA free ones that might be safer. My second choice would be the Playtex Nursers. These bottles were okay but I found the nipples not to be of very good quality. I hardly ever had to buy new nipples with the Dr. Brown bottles. I hated the Avent bottles because you had to use a special trick with these bottles to get a special seal and then the stupid thing would still leak all over my son.

One of the best things to do is buy one or two different brands of bottles and find one that works well for you and the baby.

  5. We nursed so I used breastflow by First Years but when I found out about BPA in the bottles we switched to Medela.

  6. I love the Playtex Drop Ins! No one really told me about the differences in bottles. I was planning to breastfeed but couldn't so I started using regular bottles. My daughter (now 7 weeks) got very bad problems with gas & I switched to the Drop Ins because I got a sample in the mail. These bottles helped so much

  7. I used EvenFlo they had EvenFlo Comfi bottles that I used. They worked fine. They were  a bit hard to clean because of the curved neck of the bottle. I tried Avent, and I felt the nipple was too large. I only formula fed.

  8. i just use the gerber BPA free ones. They're the cheapest. You get like 6 of them for 5.99 and they come with the nipples. I would recommend though that if you're going to use something like the gerber, or something that doesn't have the drop-ins that you by a bottle brush to get all the nooks and crannies of the bottle clean.

  9. I use the born free bottles which are great, but have a lot of extra bits to clean. They are anti-colic and BPA free.

I also use MAM bottles, which are also anti-colic and BPA free. They're easier to clean than the Born Free bottles, but with them it's harder to see how much your baby has eaten due to the color.

Do not use Avent, because of the BPA warnings.

Congrats on your new baby and enjoy your time off together at home :)

  10. Dr. Brown is good for colic.

  11. I LOVE Dr. Brown's!

  12. Dr. Browns work wonderfully. However they are the worst for washing there is a tons of pieces

  13. I use Dr. Brown -- they're good for reducing gas (although they don't eliminate it). downside is that they're a pain in the butt to wash -- so many parts to clean.

  14. i LOVE playtex dropins. they are wonderful.

  15. I use the Avent bottles and never had a problem with them.

  16. The bottles I like t he best are the playtex drop-ins and playtex vent-air. My son didn't do well on the avent bottles after a while. The dr brown bottles are great according to my friend( my son didn't like the nipple on them.)
