"After the legislature passed a spending bill in April, Palin went through the measure reducing and eliminating funds for programs she opposed. Inking her initials on the legislation -- "SP" -- Palin reduced funding for Covenant House Alaska by more than 20 percent, cutting funds from $5 million to $3.9 million. Covenant House is a mix of programs and shelters for troubled youths, including Passage House, which is a transitional home for teenage mothers.

According to Passage House's web site, its purpose is to provide "young mothers a place to live with their babies for up to eighteen months while they gain the necessary skills and resources to change their lives" and help teen moms "become productive, successful, independent adults who create and provide a stable environment for themselves and their families."

  1. Has the cuts effected the services that sre provided?

Or was this just cutting pork.

She did cut spending on over 300 items.

    Why picl this just one?

  2. I think she'd rather put people's heads in the sand and pretend that teenagers won't get pregnant if they wear a little promise ring from their daddies.

I guess she got a wake up call a few months ago.

  3. Great!  This means she really DOES understand the purpose of government, and is willing to act to prevent spending taxpayer's money on things that are NOT the business of government!

I hope to see more of this!

  4. hopefully a republican one, there should be no funding for teenage moms, except the dads, and voluntary contributions

  5. It's just a Republican thing where they don't want to fund social programs and don't believe in helping others.  Unfortunately I don't think Palin realized how much this would apply to her personally in the future.

  6. So they get knocked up and the state is supposed to tax everyone else to pay for it? Why should i have to pay for some girl who decided not to use protection? I agree with her...it's your choice and your responsibility not everyone Else's. And if you aren't ready to have a kid then give it up for adoption. There are tons of familes who ae ready and don't need to be on the public dole to take care of them.

  7. I think she wasn't thinking her child would be a teenage mother. Furthermore, I think she would have still made the same cut because it isn't effecting her and those immediately related to her. Then again, mostly because it wasn't affecting her. She seems to be a little self-centered... After all she did place her 17 year pregnant daughter in the  spot light knowing it would be stressful for her. She didn't think of the baby inside of her daughter either... Stress has been proven deadly for fetuses... I know personally.

Remember, she's pro-life. What about those innocent teenage girls that get raped, or incest in families... The child gets pregnant and doe not want to abort the child... Now she may not receive help either. How does she take care of her child?
