Which field in the medical field should I work in.

Currently I'm a RN at the hopstial. But I want a job were I can help people one on one. And love what I do..

any ideas

  1. Physical therapy or working with older patients that dont want to be in a home, but need some assistance at their own home.

The first thing that popped into my head was that you may just love working in the critical care units - usually this is one-one or at times you may have 2 patients - but still very low ratio.    I enjoyed ICU immensely in my nursing career- went into that after getting burned out on med-surg floor. I was amazed at how wonderful it was to immerse myself in the care of one patient at a time.  

    Also, homecare is one on one, but I'd go with the critical care first.

    Being that you are already a RN, you sure don't need additional schooling to work with patients one on one (meaning you don't need to go into the therapy fields to enjoy this). There's so many fields in nursing that you'll love doing.
