P-38 Lightening, designed by Kelly Johnson who also designed the C-130, F-117, SR71, adn the F-80, America's first fighter jet.  I like the P-38 because of the twin booms and h-tail design.  To me, the bird is a work of art.

A10 Warthog is a long time favorite of mine. Just liked it as a kid i guess.....

I like lots of fighter aircraft,

Spits Hurricanes Mustangs from the war.

Harriers from the Falklands.

F15, F14, su27 because of their awesome power.

F22, F35, Typhoon because of their technical ability.

F16 because it's always been in the shadow of more glamorous aircraft, whilst performing at top level.

For propeller driven, I'll take the Spitfire. For jet, I'll take the Mirage III.

Tough choices though, having to pick favorites out of a whole bunch of good planes.

If you mean modern I like F-16 because I worked on so many. I prefer the Block 40's for looks. If you mean WWII my favorites would be P-51, P-47, P-38, Spitfire, FW-190, and Zero's. Just for looks. WWI Sopwith and Fokker Triplanes, Nieuport 17, SPAD, and Sopwith Pups and Camels. I also like the F-35 because that is what I go on next.....

I'll go with Civil_Av. I like the P-38 too, due to its success and 'on-the-edge' appearance. Additionally, I like the P-51. When I was a kid, my neighbor was a P-51 pilot. He said you didn't just climb into the cockpit, you strapped on a pair of wings. I'm fond of the German Messerschmitt BF-109 too. Knew one of those pilots also who moved to the U.S. after the war. Actually, he started as a POW interned here during the war.

the f-16 is still the best and is used by Israel with the best trained pilots in the world and upgraded flight attack and defense systems.
