i have a two gallon tank with a betta and 3 neon tetra. i want to know which filter is appropriate for small tanks.

this has air pump but takes too much space in my tank. (do i need a air pump in the first place? )

  1. First off, may I recommend for a tank that is already small, NOT to get an in tank filter. I would suggest buying an aquaclear 10, which hangs on the back. I completely recommend aquaclears to anyone, and best thing is you won't be taking up precious space in the tank.


  2. i would go with a whisper, they are the best affordable filters for small tanks. but the whisper you are looking at is very unreasonable for a two gallon tank, i would check drsfosterandsmith.com

    they have really nice filters at good prices

  3. if yours betta is not a female it might kill your tettras but filters that  sit on the top of your tank arent made as small to put on a 2 gallon tank so probably some sort of bottom filter for the bottom of your tank
