Which firmware for the iPod touch?

Ok so I'm looking to jailbreak an 8gig iPod touch and I wondering what firmware is the best and has the least amount of bugs or glitches... I don't know if I'm asking this correctly... :/

For 1.1.X, I'll recommend 1.1.4 and though 1.1.5 has "bug fixes", a lot of stuff are not compatabile for some stupid reason.

For 2.X, I'll recommend the latest of course and though it is almost as glitchy and buggy as the older ones, there is a definite improvement in performance so yeah, use it.

By the way, RiP Dev, the ones who developed Installer, said that they will ditch the 1.1.X Installer already and will work on improvements in only 2.X so I'll say upgrade to 2.X and jailbreak that cause you'll get constant bug fixes and all that. If you're planning to jailbreak 2.X, it is recommended that you download the firmware and store it somewhere on your computer cause you'll probably need to restore your iPod while jailbreaking either because you messed up or its a required part of jailbreaking.

Oh, and if you don't know what Installer is, it is the thing that you use to install stuff on your iPod and yes, it is very important. You'll know more once you've jailbroken.

I wonder how long will it take for a noob to come screaming "Don't Jailbreak your iPod, you'll s***w it!" Anyone wanna bet? 1 min? 2 min? Any takers? LOL! I say this because its not that dangerous to jailbreak your iPod and there's almost always a way to fix it if you s***w up. If you do mess up, I'll try my best to help out.

2.0.2 is the most up to date and jailbreakable

2.0 or 1.1.5 they are both good but NOT!!!!!!!!!!! 1.1.1 there is free 2.0 firmware on apple for the touch.

yup Lecia B is right. the 2.0.2 firmware is the latest firmware that has more bug fixes. since the 2.0 software is new, there aren't that many third party apps that you can get from Cydia or Installer.
