  1. they are equally effective but usually when one is working the other one isn't. Though trolling is a fine presentation you should vary the speed and the height of your rod tip. Not knowing what specie you are trolling for or what water you are on I can't say using 6lb test will get the lure deeper but let me recommend the bomber long a's for deep trolling and mix up the look of the immagined bait swimming behind you. raise and lower your rod jerk it forward then ease it back and speed it up all with your hands while trolling but! the jointed lures all seam to foul easier while trolling as well.

  2. At times the jointed will out shine the solid.  As far as how fast you can go, set your bait over the side of the boat and watch how it performs at various speeds.  You'll be able to tell when it's no longer tracking properly.  When you're trolling, go in an "S" pattern....the bait will alternately speed up or slow down, depending if it's on the outside turn or the inside turn.  So, if you're catching fish on the outside turn, you can probably speed up a little....slow down if they're coming on the inside turn.  Let the fish tell you how fast they want the presentation.  If you want the Rapala to run a little deeper, try a lead core sinker about 18" ahead of the bait.  If you're over deep water and you're marking suspended fish, try a snap weight.  If the fish seem to be tight to bottom, tie a 4' to 5' leader on a bottom bouncer and attach your Rap to that.

  3. solid body rapala for bass, twitch it like a wounded minnow. short jerks and let it set a few seconds.

  4. jointed
