Question:

Which flight simulator do you like?

I have a Microsoft Flight Simulator Demo.

I am downloading the deluxe version also.

Now, I want to know if I am wasting my time with Microsoft and if there is another program out there that is better. Price-wise, better Graphical User Interface, better places, better planes, etc.

What simulator would you recommend?

Why would you recommend that one?

Thanks for the help

  1. fsx is the best flight sim out there. you can download hundreds of add-ons from flight sim sites, and it has the best graphics, although you need to have a good system to run it at full settings.

  2. i have emailed you my answer.

reason is because when i tried to submit my answer normally, yahoo for some reason would not accept it!

  3. FSX no doubt!!!!!!!!!

  4. FSX.. I am addicted to that game. It's the best so far.

  5. Have to agree with captsead0nkey.  FSX is a good value for the money.  Don't think you will find anything cheaper that is as good as it is.

I know I've learned a lot from it about instrument flying.

  6. The Right Answer >

Flight X ... Its the best..   With the new patch, its faster and smother . Be sure you have a good graphics card and lots of memory to take full advantage of it.

  7. I recommend Flight Safety Level D sims. Trained there in 2006 for CE-680 initial and it was great. I don't know anything about the toy personal computer stuff.

  8. Actually Flight Sims are a great procedure trainer to "Real" aircraft. They are very helpful in learning and practing VOR/ILS/GPS/NDB, DME Arcs, Procedure turns.. or does someone even know what those are (see above). Real airplanes are expensive to rent, unlike a sim where you can practice something for hours.  Flight sims are a hands on textbook that you can actually see how things will work under different sceniros, such as the ANDS, Magnetic Dip, Wind Correction Angles when tracking VORs and ILS, getting an instrument scan down,  bracketing a DME Arc, flying to miniumums, so when you actually do go get in a  airplane, you can use positive transfer to help you learn to fly the "Real" airplane.

Im guessing you never heard of a FRESCA, or a FTD peddlepup.. ?

  9. I agree with the other answers.  FSX is the latest and greatest, BUT....

If you don't also have the latest and greatest computer to run it on, you're better off using the older (but just as cool) FS2004.

When I first bought FSX I didn't realize the big advantage to going with the Deluxe version is the addition of a Garmin G1000 glass panel.

I just recently completed my flight training and now I want to learn the G1000 and I sure wish I had it on my PC so I could learn the ins and outs of it.  That would have been worth the upgrade.

Does flight sim make you a better pilot?  I answered this on my flying blog: http://www.FlyPatchFly.com

Most people will tell you that a flight sim is great to working on your instrument rating, but the actual art of flying is best done WITHOUT a flight simulator.  While I was taking my flight training,  I didn't touch my MS Flight Sim.

  10. Your "Flight Simulator" question belongs in the "GAMES" category. The TRANSPORTATION section is for questions about REAL aircraft, not "pretend" ones on a computer games.

  11. what i would recommend is FSX or

    flight simulator 2004 or 2002

one because they both connect to "Vatsim" witch is the worlds best internet simulated air space

and two: flight simulator 2004 comes with better challenges then 2002 but 2002 has better graphics inside the cockpit (at lest i think so

    hope it helps
