it's for a large kitchen, dining area & leads out into a laundry room.

we are on our 3rd wooden/laminate floor which has been ruined by spillages/leaking washing machine etc..

Vinyl is an option i suppose - or tiles...what would you suggest best for a busy area like this? i'd appreciate any serious answers as we are not sure which would be best.....thank you.

  1. Beige tiles all the way

  2. Tiles are probably the best option for a kitchen floor.  However, it could be worth looking at Amtico, which is a sort of linoleum, but much better quality.  They do some fantastic wood effect and  tile effect floors, they're particularly hardwearing, they're sealed to be watertight and they're guaranteed for years.  I have Amtico in my bathroom and I love it.

  3. Tiles.

    They don't get water damaged.

And last forever if you don't drop anything heavy on them that is.

Make sure and pick the right colour though.

I have all white in my kitchen, they are hard to keep clean and every little crumb or mark shows up on them.

But I don't mind that cos I'm a bit of a clean freak.

  4. Tile, tile, tile!  Get the large tiles like 16"x16".  They look fabulous!!!

Also, have the guys lay them on the diagonal!!!  It makes a huge difference!  Very elegant.

  5. i would so get tiles if i was you there so easy to look after and last for ever !

  6. Travertine floor tiles. May be a bit more expensive, but it will last which will save you in the long run and they are durable and improve the home.

  7. Tiles are great option, if you decide to get tiles stay away from tiles that has beveled edges, this is a trap for dirt making them hard to clean.  If you use tiles that are peel and stick, get water resistant tile adhesive add spread on floor first.  Spread adhesive very thin and let dry to touch before laying tile.  This will give you great job and the edges will not be popping up after about 2 months.  Enjoy your new floor.
