  1. They have an actual "mosquito plant" - that's the name of it.  You can buy them online for about $6 or less.  Some people will claim they don't work, others swear by them.  I had 3 last year that I placed around the railings of my deck and I didn't get bit by 1 mosquito last year.  Unfortunately, my husband kept knocking them off the railings with the hose, and eventually he killed them!    They're very easy to grow and maintain and with the price being so reasonable, I'll order several more again this year.  The ones I had last year were given to me when they were very small by a co-worker (they were placed in small bathroom Dixie cups when they were given to me and I transplanted them into inexpensive plant pots.  I left them outside and watered them whenever I thought of it (maybe once or twice a week).  They smell like lemon or citronella which is what I think works to keep the mosquitos away.

If you do a search online for mosquito plant you'll find it very easily.

    Good luck!

  2. Mosquitoes are not deterred by any flowers. They have one interest: to follow carbon dioxide exhalations to a place they can find blood. There is no flower that can interfere with their ability to find mammals. If it were that simple, don't you think we'd have gotten together as a species and done it?

The only control you can effect is to prevent the larvae from hatching. Standing water a quarter-inch deep for three days can produce 20,000 hungry mosquitoes. Once you've eliminated the drainfields, you can talk to your garden center about Sevin dust. It has drawbacks, but it's about the most effective thing you'll find.

  3. MARIGOLDS

Organic gardeners have used marigolds as companion plants to keep aphids away. Mosquitoes don't like its scent any better (and some humans feel the same way). Marigolds are sun-loving annuals that come in a variety of shapes and sizes for almost any landscape. They are quite easy to grow from seed.
