Which flowers would be best to grow for my wedding in August?

I am planning to grow my own flowers for my wedding, so I'm flexible about what kinds of flowers I have. We live in Portland, Oregon, which I believe is in zone 6. Does anyone have any suggestions about flowers that would be good cut flowers between about August 9-16 (next year)?

  1. I love Cosmos for a cut flower, they come in alot of colors, have nice long strong stems and keep for a long time.

Here's a link for cut flowers:

  2. how about pink and white roses i had those at my wedding and they were so romantic at the end of the wedding every guy picked them and gave them to there girlfriends/wife or you could do daises

  3. sunflowers come in smaller varieties, and I planted some this year that have burgundy and gold petals and are quite pretty!  They took about 2 months to mature and bloom from seed, and I'm in NC (zone 7).

The stems are long and strong enough to work with, and the colors are cheerful~

    congrats

  4. Well, your own wedding shoudl reflect your own personal style, of course.. but if you want to follow "generally accepted wedding etiquette" then there are specific flowers that you are supposed to use for each season.

There is a good article on the appropriate flowers for your wedding for each time of the year, here: http://www.bride.ca/wedding-ideas/index....
