  1. i am not french, but i am a chef, and i loved the passion and the work of art that came out of the food that they cooked. Well in some parts of france anyway.

  2. Snails,

    Frogs Legs,

  3. You cannot buy a really decent French wine in the UK. Their not daft they keep it all for themselves.

  4. I think nowadays, you can find lots of good french product in london.....lots of french wine, good "baguette" and croissant, and in lots of delicatessen you d find everything to cook french(

    cheeses and etc....)

What I was missing was more to find some nice fresh product coming from small market instead of product from the big industry.....

@ angel from my experience english people eat maybe more snails and frogs legs than french!!!!(at least when they re in France!!!

  5. A good "Paris" baguette (french bread) and maybe,  just baked, croissants au beurre...

The rest you can get just about anywhere if you pay the price.

  6. Fois Gras

  7. Merguez sausages!

We do bring back snails (tinned) but don't eat them often - they are mostly given to English guests! ;o)

Andouillette - not to everyone's taste but my husband loves them.

    Rillettes de porc.

    Fois Gras.

Cancoillotte - yummy on crusty bread AND low fat! :o)

Drinks - I enjoy Guignolet and my husband enjoys Suze, neither of which we've found here.

Some cheeses that we can't get here (like Munster) but we can live without.

It's not true that they keep the best wine in France - but it is generally cheaper! However expensive wine in the UK is also expensive in France. The tax isn't a percentage it's a fixed sum - so this makes cheap wine expensive in the UK but expensive wine and Champagne isn't that much different - except that there is more choice there so you can find bargains.

  8. I missed pâté de campagne and 51 most when I lived in London. I never found a place where they sold the above 2 in Britain the time I lived there.
