I have now had three fords in my driving career. Two taurus' and one focus.  My current vehicle is an '02 tuarus ses model.  This is a very comfortable ride, have never had it in the shop for anything other than regular maintenance.  This particular package has a small V-6, mileage is decent.  But if you are thinking something more economical with gas prices, the focus would be a good choice, especially over the fusion(fusion comes with optional 4 or 6).  If you need a mid-sized car though, the taurus is a great selection.  There are 4 different package types, the LX, SE, SES, and SEL.  LX is lowest trim package, SEL is highest.  I would recommend the se/ses.  these are comfortable without being extremely expensive.  Good luck.

Just got a Taurus last week. They are unbelieveably nice. I recommend getting the auto-dimming mirror, SYNC (they are a package) and Sirius. The room inside that car is amazing. Dark Blue almost looks black, but its a very nice Taurus.

Normally, i'd say skip ford and move onto honda, but they've improved so much within the last two years.

If you want a small car, you should look into the focus. The new focus is mroe attractive, gets better milage, and drives alot smoother than the older one. Despite what people may think, quality on it has boosted ALOT, and you are getting your moneysworth from such a little car.

If your looking for a bigger car, the EDGE is a great vehicle. It's stylish, roomy, and fun to drive. It handles just as well, if not better than the Lexus RX in my mind.
