my son was breast fed at birth but kept projectile vomiting and had constant colic like symptoms and diarrhoea so i changed to cow and gate milk which made no difference anyway after several trips to the doctor and one trip to the hospital he was diagnosed as lactose intolerant and put onto prescription formula (enfamil lactofree) hes been on that since 3 weeks old hes now 5 months i took him to see the dietitian on monday who advised me to start introducing fromage frais yogurts to him to see how he reacts anyway so far all is well but the next step is to change him onto normal formula but i dont know which one to use im just wondering if any of you have any advice or know of a good formula. he also spits up quite a lot i wouldn't say it was bad enough for him to go on a reflux prevention formula but he could do with something thats easy to digest.

  1. IT depends what country you are in but I reccomend Hipp Organic...it is cheaper than any other and organic...cant go far wrong! Ar first I tried Aptamil as it is mean to be closest to breast milk but it was too rich and gave her wind and tummy trouble,,,a lot of Mums have found that about it.

  2. I suggest Nestle Good Start because it is the only formula that has comfort proteins which makes it easy to digest for babies. I am on my third child and this is my third cycle with Good Start. My experience with other formula's have been severe constipation and lots of spit ups. My children hardly ever spit up. My son is now 7 months old and hasn't spit up once in probably 2 weeks, and that was just a tiny bit. I don't think that too many people can say that about Similac or Enfamil

  3. my little one has a small bit of colic also and i have been advised to put her on a soy formula. I'm in Aust so I'm using 'carrycare' so not sure what you guys have there but im sure you would have something similar. just ask at your chemist Ive only just started but my GF has put her son on it who is severely colic and he has stopped crying and is so much happier. I hope this has been helpful.

  4. Best thing to do is try one.  Every baby is different, and like the previous 2 I hear good things about Hipp.  I use Aptimil after finding every other formula gave my baby bad wind and vomiting, however it's each to their own.

  5. I've heard that cow and gate comfort is very good. It's designed to be a lighter formula, easier for little ones to handle and digest, it's also meant to be one of the less pricey formula's. What ever formula you decide on you should introduce it gradually rather then making the straight swap as it unsettle your little one and cause a reaction.

  6. Hipp is good.  My daughter has been on it since she was 4 days old with no trouble. It's also cheaper than the rest!

  7. If he's already doing well with Enfamil, I would suggest staying within that family.  There is Enfamil Gentlease A+ which has lactose but less than regular formula, you could ease him into reg formula with that one.  There is also Enfamil Thickened A+ which was created with babies that spit up a lot in mind.  Although, I'm not sure where exactly you are because here, you don't need a prescription for lactose free formula?  Anyways, after doing research for my own daughter I've come to realize that the formula in different countries have different names and packaging but are in fact the same.  Here's the link to the Canadian info: http://www.enfamil.ca/en/products/family...

Just found this on the internet, looks like it's the same low lactose I was writing about http://www.milupa-aptamil.co.uk/en/artic...
