  1. Ditch Norton entirely, its resource hungry, slow and will crash your system.

    1) Install Avast Antivirus or AVG which are both free;

    2) Install PCTools firewall also free;

    3) Install Spybot Search & Destroy.

    Make sure you download your alternative anti-virus etc & disconnect from the internet before you remove Norton.

  2. we dumped norton and switched to panda antivirus. So far it has done an excellent job - except for the trojan that I posted about, an hour ago, but that was my husbands fault - not panda's.

    Firefox is a browser - just like IE. Firefox is not an antivirus program, so no, it cannot scan your computer.

  3. None.  Get rid of Norton altogether, and don't forget to use the norton removal tool

    http://service1.symantec.com/Support/tsg...

    and replace it with AVG8.0 from http://free.avg.com

    You will see improved performance overall.  Note, any program that requires a separate removal tool, after you have used the Ad Remove programs feature of windows.. especially a removal tool put out by the manufacturer, is bad news.

  4. mozilla firefox

  5. www.threatfire.com

  6. http://www.superantispyware.
