  1. Neither of them contain H2O into their composition.

    Propane: C3H3

    Butane: C4H10

  2. to the above answer they dont contain H2O but it is produced by combustion

    Depends how much gas your burning

  3. propane burns completely according to the following equation

    C3H8  +  5 O2  ----->  4H2O  +  3CO2

    Butane:

    C4H10  +  13/2   O2  --------->   5H2O  +  4CO2

    Hence for the same mole of propane and butane, propane will produce the least amount of water vapour

  4. Compare the balanced equations:

    C3H8 + 5O2  ==>  3CO2 + 4H2O

    C4H10 + 13/2 O2  ==>  4CO2 + 5H2O

    Each mole of propane produces 4 moles of H2O while a mole of butane produces 5 moles of H2O. On a per mole basis, propane gives off less H2O. On a mass basis, gram per gram, propane gives off slightly more.

  5. The propane molecules, as they contain less hydrogen than butane, will require less oxygen for complete combustion and will produce less water vapour than the same volume of butane.
