Question:

Which gene do you have?

Look at your fingers. Notice that each finger has three segments. Most humans have hair on the backs of their fingers on the segment nearest to the hand. However, some people have hair on the second segment as well. If you have mid-digital hair you have the dominant gene (H) for that characteristic. If not, you have the recessive gene (h). Again, there is no particular advantage to having it, since it's never enough to keep your hands warm in the winter!

  1. I have the h gene, but only on my middle, ring and pinky fingers on both hands, but not on my index and thumbs.  Weird, huh?

  2. My father is Hh, my mother is hh and I am hh.

  3. Hairlessness there WAS advantageous for our knuckle-walking ape ancestors.  Walking on your knuckles and getting the hair pulled out as you walked would have made you more prone to infection.

  5. I have the (H) gene. So if that is more dominant, if my partner has the (h) gene, will my genes be stonger if we had a baby? I am currently 9 months pregnant that's why I am asking??

  6. I don't have the phenotype (visible hair) but since "no hair" is recessive, I must be homozygous for no hair (hh).  (If I was heterogygous -Hh- I would have hair as I would if I was homozygous dominant - HH)

  7. I have no clue what you mean, so I'll just say I'm HHHHhhhhHHHHhhhh. Does that work?!?! hehe...
