  1. a quick glance would lead one to believe that the HadCM2 model comes closest to reality.

  2. The best climate model is the one developed as a product of evapotransporation rates as put forth by Thornthwaite many years ago.  According to Thornthwaite, a climate  type is determined by moisture (rain or water) and the loss or degeneration of same as it is subject to more and more heat or sun light.  i.e. Mediterranean, subtropical, rain forest etc.

  3. No model is good so which is best is a moot point. The problem with all climate models is they don't have any geothermal forces included in the forces that effect climate. Anyone can examine this lack of geothermal and see it is a very real oversight in all models.

  4. Climate models are getting better, but they all fail to accurately predict today's climate so they really have no utility for predicting future climate.  Here is a link to a study on 57 different climate models conducted at the University of Utah: http://www.inscc.utah.edu/~reichler/publ...

According to the study, the HadCM2 is the best performer of the CMIP-2 models, but it is outperformed by most of the CMIP-3 models.

  5. Currently there is no climate model that functions better than the old newsroom dart board. I would like to find out for sure what system the farmer’s almanac uses because they are right a year ahead on climate predication to a higher average hit ratio than anybody else. Where Mann/Hansen had about a 2% hit ration in their chart the Almanac has close to a 90% hit ratio over a ten-year period.
