Which golf set do you think is better?

Me and my best friend started golfing recently and we love it, we go at least twice a week now. Were both beginners and aren't the greatest at the game but we get better every week. So far we have just been renting gold clubs from the course and we want to now each get our own set. I was doing a little research and i came to a few sets and want to know if you think they are any good and which you would recommend to me or if you could link a different set that you know of that would fit us well.

I was also looking at sets from sports authority but there isn't much info about them there.

p.s. I don't want to spend more than 500$ because I'm in school.

Thanks for the help.

  1. IMO, get an older Name brand set/irons/woods. You'll get a lot more trade in when you have played enough to start to know what you want and need from your clubs. Everyones swing and game are different, there's a very good chance you'll play a few sets before you find the "right" ones for you.

Building clubs is a great hobby, but you might do better to have a set ready now, and then learn more about building as you go so there's no pressure.

Sports Authority carries decent to very good quality stuff, you shouldn't have to worry there. Try Globalgolf.com to get a good idea of what you can expect to pay for the clubs you are looking at. Their menus and searches are pretty easy to use, I've found them very helpful. The only thing they don't help with is suggesting equipment. Try GolfDigest.com and look into their equipment ratings (The Hot List) if you want a place to start looking for helpful clubs for a newer golfer. Very good detail about club characteristics. Good luck.

  2. Callaway x is your best choice

  3. ty large retailers brand new modles clevland golds 249 dollars . ask for dozen golf balls , use caution on e bay . try local proshops if open see what they have for used , newspapers , flea markets , garage sales etc . dont even worry about a driver , use three or 5 wood , used uality set . will allow you the most important club to be custom fit the putter . good golfing

  4. If your willing to spend 500 then you can do MUCH better than those knock offs.

I bought a brand new set of Cobra S9 irons 4-Gap Wedge off of ebay for 229.  You can piece together the driver woods putter and bag for under 500 eaisly.

Consider getting used clubs for your first set.  Seen as how your going to throw some abuse at them anyways.

Those clubs you linked looked like c**p, and will most likely perform like c**p.

    Good luck!

  5. Go to golf Galaxy, Golfsmith or *****  Sporting goods and have someone fit you with clubs. You may want to go to a club pro and get fitted. Buy used clubs if you can until you get your game under control

  6. i recommend ya to go for pings G10.

  7. Im in my 3rd year ,i also love the game.I just recently shopped and researched for a month solid. i prefer taylormade clones.so i got the T7 max moi, which is the new TaylorMade cgb max driver for 70 dollars brand new.Ive had the T7 super quad and it hit the same as the 400 dollar Taylormade.

What research i did do lead me to buy a cavity back iron or hybrid iron, due to they have more forgiveness to mishit balls. Also a good weight to get the ball up.Regular flex shafts are good for our swing speed.I still use steel shafts, but i use graphite on my woods.

In a nutshell if you want a whole set for under 300 that i know personally that would compete with Taylormade, the Tour Model T7 series clubs are the way to go,or if you have a brand preferance like(callaway, ping, cleveland ect...)TourModel also makes clones for these brands as well.NO im not a spokesman, just a beginer golfer that has used there product.in 3 years of playing with them i average a low 90s from the blue tees(1 back from the white tees).Thats on an intermediate coarse that has amatuer tours twice a year. hope that helps you a little.
