  1. TomTom pricing is normally lower and they offer more features, Garmin is better accepted in North America and have a slightly higher pricing on their base models but cost a lot more on their higher end unit such as the Nuvi 880 at $999.99 where TomTom 930 is at $549, both have voice input command and full coverage. TomTom includes European maps and have map share and Garmin does not.

Garmin routing is normally a little better than TomTom and Garmin utilizes NavTeq mapping software when TomTom utilized their own TeleAtlas software which some feel is not as detail as NavTeq.

Over all both TomTom ONE 130-S and the Garmin Nuvi 255W would be an excellent choice to select if you wish to have a base model unit with text to speech features.

    Good Luck

  2. Garmin. i like there layout better too i would check out the Nuvi 250W ts really nice and easy to use.

  3. tomtom is going to be cheaper.  Garmin is a higher end unit and is easier to work for most people which is why they tend to cost more.

    Good Luck!!!
