Question:

Which graphing calculator should I buy? Easy 10 points!

I am torn between the TI-83 Plus and the TI-84 Plus Silver Edition. I've heard that some actually prefer the TI-83 Plus over its successor, but I plan on taking Calculus 1, 2, 3 and Multivariate, and Analytical Geometry 1 and 2 in college. Possibly even Euclidean Geometry, Business Calculus and Group/Number Theory. As a junior this year, I'm taking Trigonometry, Statistics AP and Pre-calculus Honors. I'm wondering whether or not if I should invest in the TI-83 Plus, or the slightly more expensive TI-84 Plus SE. Would the TI-83 suffice for the courses previously mentioned? I would hate to have to buy calculator after calculator as that would be pointless. Any insight or feedback will be immeasurably appreciated. Thank you.

  1. Get the silver edition.  I have it and i'm in the highest math that my high school offers, and it has been incredibly useful.  The silver edition has a few more add-ons than the TI-83, which will probably make it more useful in the long run.
