Which side seem to think they know best? Some here sure seem certain of their beliefs. I know which I believe is more smug, which is in your opinion?

State either "non believers" or "believers", or maybe "left" or "right" (since it's become such a political thing now).

  1. From my observation, neither is smug but the "non believers" tend to cling to one specific thing  while the believers tend to want to look a the whole plethora of evidence.  So I'd say non believers are more smug.

  2. My god, is this really a question?  Alarmists by far.  A lot of them have their heads so far up their a$$es, their arguments generally come down to an attempt to belittle someone by showcasing their one-sided, propaganda-fed knowledge on the subject.  All of which is done in a manner while speaking down to those who dare question the cause.  If you don't believe me, see some of the top answerers in this section, especially the one under Alternative Fuels.  That should answer your question.

  3. Non-believers.  Some of them tend to believe that Al Gore invented Global Warming and by taking a swipe at him they have answered any questions that anyone might have about the (real) issue of GW.

  4. A definition of smug is: self-righteously complacent.

    Complacent means  'self-satisfied and unconcerned'

In those definitions, complacent and unconcerned definitely sums up those who think we should not care about global warming.

I will leave which side is more self-righteous to more neutral observers.

  5. I'm libertarian, a non-believer, and I'm right.  I'll freely admit I'm smug, arrogant, condescending, and quite frankly smarter than the average polar bear.  Apparently it takes a rocket scientist to forget the Sun warms the Earth.  I blame the public school system...

In comparison, white coats tend to think the letters they add behind their names make them right regardless of fact.  Since they tend to be set on perma-smug, there's no noticeable increase in the ol' smug-o-meter.

For me:  Non-believers, because we know better.

  6. I feel the believers are more smug, because they think they have science completely on their side, even though they don't.

  7. The believers tend to research it while the non-believers just say no it's not happening, I'm right your wrong They are more smug.
