  1. Go for the Ibanez. They have a much thicker tone than a strat which is perfect for distortion. It's what i use.

  2. both are good instruments if you use them wisely. if you are planning on playing metal then go for the ibanez. Fenders are good guitars but in my personal opinion you will be better of with the ibanez. the ibanex is less clinkyer than the strat. Ibanezs' usually have a much thicker and rich sound and for metal and that sort of music it will work perfectly. with the right distortion you will really get a fantastic sound out of you ibanez.

Get a Fender without hesitation because of its re-sale value. It gets better with time and so does the value.  Also, the sound is super clean on a fender and when you apply distortion, the distortion is really smooth and super clean.

I use Fender, Jackson and Gibsons in my studio and that is when you know how the guitar sounds.

The Ibanez hums a little and is annoying. As for the tremolo systemn. Fender have the best tremolo system on the market. It is simple, efficient and never breaks down.

It doesn't need a locking nut mechanism to keep it in tune either. This alone should make you realize the quality of the guitar.
