  1. If the money is not the limiting factor, buy the Wilson Combat. It is a great gun, has great customer service (in the rare event there is an issue)

That being said, I have been tempted to trade my Kimber in on a few occasions... but it has NEVER let me down. I have a TLE II (and a few others)

Yes, the Wilson is beautiful, fits nicely, shoots well... but for me, it was not 1000 ++ Better than my TLE II ... So I keep her.

Someday, I may get the Wilson.... but for right now, the Kimber plays a role, fits the bill nicely, and I do not need another 1911 in the Stable (I have 3 Kimbers....)

    Ultra for Carry

TLE II for Range / IDPA

Clackmas (Original Pre Series II) Race Gun... done up by EGW (Evolution Gun Works)

Love my Kimbers... would like to have a Wilson in the future.

  2. From a man living in Beirut the best gun to buy is a water gun.

  3. Depends.  You should visit a range and first fire the Colt Gold Cup, then try the Kimber and a Wilson.

Buying a pistol is allot like buying a car.  You really need a test drive it.  You would also be well advised to experience shooting a number of different sights, triggers and grips.  Once you spend $1200 in a high end 45.......heaven help you if you need to trade it in on another.  Even with just a single box 25 rounds fired - you would be lucky to sell it and get $800 for it.  You would need to hang on to it for about 5-7 years to get your money back.

Your gun dealer should be able to call some of his previous customers and in a few days give you names of folks to call who will let you give theirs a try.  Consider this a chance to network with other shooters.  Or, visit a local indoor range that runs a centerfire shooting league - show up on a league night with a box or two of 'high quality' match 45 ammo and ask to try some of the pistols.  Most of these pistols will have match ammo springs - not ball or personal defense springs - and they won't let you fire ball ammo in their match guns.

    Hope this helps.

  4. Many things we poor mortals acquire are a matter of what feels right to us, cars, guns, women, yada.  Try one of each type 45 and see what fits your hand and mood and panache.

  5. Wilson combat is the bomb.

  6. LOL... water gun.

  7. If you can afford a Wilson and really want one then buy one.  I own a Kimber because I refuse to pay over a $1,000 for a handgun.  KImber is good enough for most of us.

  8. wilson all the way

  9. Of the two wilson

But there are other great options out there also
