  1. I don't know anything about Baretta's, but I have had plenty of experience with Glock 27's.  The police dept. I retired from carried them. Every 3 months we had range practice and at least 20% of the Glocks fired had to be sent to Glock for repairs.

Glock was once a good gun. Now it is turning out junk and living off of it's past reputation.

  2. never buy a glock.  other than their diminishing quality, the hammerless firing mechanism is dangerous in design and safety.  too prone to accidents if you have kids around.

  3. Buy the Beretta PX4 Storm.  I own a Beretta 92FS for protection and I would not rely on any other gun. The 92FS is a accurate, powerful, and very reliable gun and the PX4 Storm is kind of the next generation of Beretta 92FS.  They also make a PX4 sub compact which would be great for concealed carry, but if your not gonna carry and just need a gun for the house go with the regular PX4 Storm.  I bought my 92FS from a gun store for about $500 and I haven't seen a cheaper price anywhere on the internet or other places, so your best bet would be to just buy from a gun store. The fact is a good gun is always gonna cost upwards of $500 no matter where you buy it from, but the Beretta is well worth it, and if you buy from a gun store you have the advantage of the employees helping you with any questions you may have. Gun store employees usually seem to enjoy their job and love guns so they normally won't hesitate to help you and talk to you about your purchase as much as you need.

  4. Go with the Beretta Px4 it is a good all around pistol [with a hammer] and would suit your needs well. Your choice of either chambered in .45,.40 and 9mm is also a big plus. Price is no subject when it comes to your familys protection, But the price will vary from dealer to dealer, can't really give you a set price due to not knowing where you are. Glock has went south and compared to the Px4 is not as well of a made pistol. Your options to upgrade on the Px4 is greater than the Glock also.

If you are using it for the defense of you family i would recommend going with the .40 with a premium Jacketed Hollow Point in the 180 grain range, and find what functions best and stick with the Brand and practice as much as possible.

  5. I'd select the Beretta of the two you mentioned. Check the link for a delivered price where you live.

  6. Beretta Px4 storm

  7. If its just for your home you might consider a 20 or 12 gauge pump shotgun with a pistol grip and short barrel . I keep one under our bed.

  8. Your best choice is a Smith & Wesson 4" Revolver in 357 Magnum caliber using 125 grain jacketed hollow points for ammo. It has been tried, true, tested, and proven to be the best no nonsense man stopper.* You get two (2*) handguns for the price of one, because you can also shoot 38 caliber in it.*

  9. I would go with what Phil said, if only for in your house, than a 12Ga. shotgun would be a much better choice. Preferably loaded with #4 shot, 00, or 000 Buckshot. Also teach your wife and maybe your kids to shoot whatever you get.
