Question:

Which hamster cage should I get?

I'm planning on getting a pair of campbells dwarfs or a pair of robos in the next month or so and I'd love to get a new cage while I'm at it. I've used mainly aquariums and wire cages (I've had mostly bar chewers though so I've mostly used the aquarium), but I'd like to get something with room for expansion and tubes.

First on my list is the habitrail Ovo, I've heard a bunch of good reviews on it for dwarf hammies, the only thing I'm worried about is the water bottle leaking. Anyone use this cage? How do you like it? If I buy this one I'll buy the habitrail mini tubes so the dwarfs can actually climb around without free falling through the huge tubes, poor little guys.

This is the habitrail ovo using habitrail mini tubes:

The other cage I'm thinking about is the habitrail mini, its got a great design and is made for dwarfs. I'm worried about them chewing the bars though or maybe chewing through the plastic litter guard and getting loose while I'm at work or something.

Which ever cage I get I'm planning on buying the ovo den and transport units as expansions and I will be using the mini tubes, I just need a new main cage.

I live in florida so I'm also worried about how hot it gets for the little guys, which s why I want to trade in my aquarium for something a little airier or maybe with more room. Any advice or idea would be great.

  1. you've got alot of time on your hand honey, just get a suitable cage that offers plenty of room, safety, and fresh air, we really didn't need to read your research, you've already made up your mind, so go buy it and stop wasting our time so we can answer some real questions.  WOW.

  2. first ones awsome!!!!!!!!!!

  3. I think the first one would be the best. I agree that it is somewhat tiny for two, but you don't want the little guys chewing their way to freedom. (they may head for Disney World lol ;) )

Anyway, just remember that sometimes they are territorial, so you may want to get the bigger one. I'd do that if I were you.

  4. the first one seems kinda small for 2 hamsters. I would get the second one.

  5. I love the second one! :]

  6. You should get the first one. The hampster will have a  better work out in that one and I will not turn fat like all the other hampsters in regular cages. lol.
