  1. Jester looks the best, River in second, maybe first but I don't really like that picture of her.

  2. 1 River

    2 Spice

    3 Bugz

    4 Jester

  3. Bugz does but I ike jester he's a pretty color

    1.Bugz

    2.Spice-River-Jester

  4. spice would be a 1 he is tall looks nice

buz would be a 2 he is nice looking

river looks like a barrl raceing horse he would be a 2

Jester is a beautiful horse 1

  5. spice is the best

  6. Spice looks good, but I don't like the fact he's wearing a saddle and he looks kinda uphill.

Bugz is a very plain looking horse, but I see no major confomation faults accept her throat latch could be better and head slightly smaller, with maybe some more withers.

River, good lord the head looks as big as her neck! Other then that it's a pretty horse and her withers looks good.

Jester, another big head small neck horse. Her back pasterns look a little too angeled, but it could just be me.

Honestly I can't put them from 1 to 4, I can only tell you what I like and don't like.

Urg, I'll give this a shot.

    Bugz

    Spice

    River

    Jester

I really like Bugz if only that neck was a little better. Spice looks good but the saddle throws me off, second is basically between Spice and River. Finally theres Jester, she looks like she was good in her younger days, but just can't keep up now.

  7. Bugz-1

    Spice-2

    River-3

    Jester-4

I have juged alot of horses in 4-h and shows this is my opinion. I went by conformation more than other people who went by how cute they are.

  8. Okay. After reviewing the photos here is how I placed the horses and why I placed them there.

Bugz I placed number one because he displayed the most over all balance. While he does appear to be sickle hocked, it may just be because he is not squared up. He has nice clean lines and his body doesn't give a spare parts appearance.

Second is River. Like Bugz he is well balanced. However his shoulder is a bit steep and his neck is shorter and I would have liked to see a cleaner throat latch. While he has a nice hip, he is weak in the loin.

It's a tie for third and fourth between Spice and Jester. Both of their necks don't tie into their head or shoulder giving them an unbalanced look. Jester has a longer body but BOTH seem to be long in the back. Spice holds her forehand so far under her that it makes me wonder if she's sound. Not only that but Spices' slope of shoulder does not match the pasterns. Jester also is weak in the loin and has a shallow hip.

  9. Spice...bad position to judge from....he is waspy waisted and pigeon breasted, and tied in below the knees.  His cannons are slightly long in front.  His shoulder and croup are angled well, and I suspect his neck ties in fine, it's hard to tell by the way he's posed.  His pasterns are sloping, but they are short so it's fine.  His hindquarter and hind legs are hard to judge, but look correct overall.

Bugz.....Short thick neck and steep shoulder, and looks toed out in front.  Croup angles ok but doesn't match shoulder angle.  Nice back and underline with strong loin.  Stifle too high, but ties in ok to gaskins.  Hind legs are both sickle hocked and cow hocked. Pasterns slightly upright.

River....short knife neck and long head, tied in under the knees.  Just barely enough shoulder angle matches almost too steep croup angle.  Very long front pasterns.  Strong back but looks slightly downhill balanced...not sure.  Good stifle and ties in well to gaskins, nice deep hocks but too much angle to the hocks, or sickle hocks. Pasterns look ok from what I can see.

Jester....front end is out of balance with the rest, with both long neck and long head.  Dips behind the wither for a hollow back appearance.  Very steep shoulder and sloping pasterns.Back too long and steep croup.  Stifle is too high, and gaskins too short...rear cannons are too long with marginal hocks and way too sloped pasterns.  this is a very weak bodied horse.

I wouldn't choose any of these horses, but if I had to , I'd say Spice is the strongest and most likely to hold up over time.  The right work will build his abdominal and haunch muscles to correct the waspy waist...collection will help him balance his front end, and overall he'll look better and function well.

As for the others, one is as bad or good as the other. They can all make nice riding horses...they just aren't what I'd be looking for in conformation.

  10. Spice-1

    River-2

    Bugz-3

    Jester-4

But they are all so cute.

  11. Bugz - very nice, looks like a reiner, all around good conformation, few defects.

Spice - Good body but needs to fill out, neck and head out of proportion

River - long back, looks more like an english horse, big head, ewe neck

Jester - Big head, nick neck and shoulder, after that he falls apart though.

  12. Conformation refers to most correct bone structure, muscle and body parts proportion.

    Spice:

Smallish eye, nose, mouth (being pretty critical though)

Head slightly short but good width

Jaw bit looks fine from this pic

Chest looks narrow from this shot not as narrow from behind though

Good chest/breast/pectoral muscle in front thought his legs were slightly to far back but its not when you look at it in relation to withers position

    Wither look ok?

    Back looks good proportion etc

    Good ears

    Nice rump

Tails nice and thick dock good position height etc

Good hoof angle (should be same as shoulder angle)

    Pasterns ok

    Slightly down on heal

    Slight swan neck (upward high)

Slight upside down neck – more muscle underneath

Def Knife necked thin and long with not much top line

    Nice sloping shoulder

Even from wither to back (level)

    Hips look fine

    Barrel good

    Slight short cannon bone

Knees fine- maybe inwards ever so slightly though

Nice hocks good size good position etc

    Hoof could be slightly small?

    Bugz:

Small eye, nose and mouth again

Small head but even in length and width

    Jaw looks fine

Chest could be slightly narrow not as much as spice though I think from pic

    Nice width from behind

Short neck but even and more definition

    Nice withers

    Nice back proportioned

    Ears slightly small

    Nice rump

Cannot really see where tail starts?

    Hood angle same a shoulder

Pasterns quite short in front not so bad in back

Cannon bone shortish more a frnt than behind

Shoulder ok – more upright than spice

Hoof upright – not bad trait though, good size hoof though

    Hips?

    Knees good

    Cannot see hocks

    Barrel good

    River:

    Nice face proportioned nice

Nice neck muscled slightly upside down more underneath

    Slightly short

    Jaw look ok

    Good ears

    Nice sloping shoulder

    Withers fine

    Even from wither to back

Quite a big chest (not from between the legs though) If that makes sense

    Good barrel

    Nice rump

    Tail looks ok

    Hocks look really nice

Shortish cannon in short back fine

Nice pastern in front – cant see back

    Hoof goods

    Hips look ok

    Knees look ok

    Nice back

    Jester:

    Nicest face

Most proportioned in relation to eyes, nose, mouth

    Ears maybe little small

Nice neck very in proportion needs little more topline though

    Nice sloping shoulder

    Nice back

    Even from back to wither

    Wither good

Bit pointy in back needs bit more work

Downish tail – prob breed though

Pasterns good nice- angles bit to much in behind though

Angle in hoof and shoulder good

    Hoof good

    Knees good

    Barrell good

Nice chest depth nice from behind to

Cannon ever so slightly short in front behind fine

    Jaw fine from here

Hocks look fine could be a little bigger though? But fine!

Maybe little bit thin legs compared to body

This horse is def most in proportion though

    I would put jester 1st, River 2nd, Bugz 3rd, spice 4th

I have been quite critical to give you some answers so don’t take it to heart. Hope this helps it took me forever to do this one!

  13. river is by far the most balanced and conformationally correct, look at this horses shoulder!! fantastic pastern angle is beautiful and I like this horses legs. Weak parts would be this horses stifle and is sickle hocked. I think the neck is better than you think as Im thinking that the person holding lifted the horses head to cover up themselves, although this horse has a very plain head.

Bugz would be my next choice, as this horse is well balanced too, i think this horses shoulder is a little straight and so are the pasterns, this horses head is pretty but the neck is short and again sickle hocked.

then it would be jester then spice, Im really not fond of either of these horses but jester has a better overall balance than spice, Spice, I do NOT like this horses conformation at all.
