  1. I am an Aussie and let me tell you I hope you have lots of money saved. Living on the coast anywhere in Australia is very expensice I think you should do some resurch before you come here, as you will be shoked at the high prices here. Good luck

  2. check out the website

    www.realestate.com.au

it should give you an idea on the prices.

australias a great place to live!

  3. Melbourne is not near a coast.

The nearest ocean coast is at Point Cooke.

It is near a inland bay, called Port Phillip Bay, but it is far far away from the ocean and is no good for surfing and is too cold for swimming, unlike Sydney.

I Think that between Gosford and Belmont just north of Sydney would be perfect.

  4. Hi from a proud aussie, Albury/Wodonga not on the coast but has everything you need, in between the major cities, we have snow not too far away, we have lakes for skiing and boating.  Awesome place.   You can build a new house here or purchase an established home, the market is good for buyers right now.  www.dennisfamily.com.au.

  5. Hey!

I'm from Sydney but off the coast (around 15kms inland). I can tell you that the houses on the coast are expensive! It does not matter if it's Sydney, Melbourne or anywhere.

By 'near the coast', I assume you wouldn't mind if you were a bit inland. There are many good areas around Sydney such as the inner-west. The housing there is reasonable.

If you like shopping, then there is Western Sydney which has some of the city's biggest and best shopping centres but the crime levels are higher than elsewhere and the weather there is extreme because Sydney stretches over 40kms west inland.

If you care about safety, avoid south-western and western Sydney. These are places avoided by many people at night.

I hope this helps and I wish you and your family the very best in Australia! Take good care!

    From your Aussie mate Dan.

  6. You would probably be better to look in New South Wales if boating is a factor.

This is a difficult question to give an answer without knowing more, such as type employment.how big etc i have found this site for you that may give you a bit of an idea,i live in Victoria where it is a great place but has cooler weather in winter, where as N.S.W.. is usually warmer.

You'll love Oz as we do,put a coldy in the fridge for you.

  7. Sydney is always more expensive than Melbourne, however houses near the coast will always be more expensive no matter what,  keep in mind that Sydney is further north then Melbourne and the weather is warmer the further north you go =) i would recommend yahoo.com.au/realestate
