Which helicopter is better for a beginner one with a single rotor or one that has dual rotor design?

  1. Dual rotors (also counter-rotating blades) are very basic helicopters.  They tend to be very stable in the air and so the transition to either fixed pitch or collective pitch is still rather difficult even after mastering counter-rotating blades.  If you're looking for just some basic fun, I would go for the counter-rotating blades.  If you're a little more serious about RC helicopters, I would suggest either a fixed pitch or a collective pitch helicopter.  I've included a link to a great RC forum where you can post questions to more qualified people, and I'm also posting links to good beginner helicopters.

    Regardless of whichever you choose, be aware that it can get kind of expensive, especially if you plan on crashing a lot. :P
