I'm looking at getting some new glasses, and my friend directed me to a site where he had a nice pair of Oakley Five 3.0 sunglasses made about a year ago.

I'm looking at getting a pair of Gascans made(clear for regular use), but my prescription is also a bit higher than his (-6.75 both eyes). I tried a pair on and the fit is very close to my face. My question is, will there be a noticeable difference in thickness from a hi index 1.56 to 1.67. And with my prescription would I need 1.67?

  1. Hi, my prescription is +5.00 & I have just bought some new glasses with 1.67 thin lens, I was told that it was not necessary to have them any thinner. Being that you are short sighted the thickness of your lens is at the sides and as I am long sighted the thickness of the lens is in the centre.

You should be able to see the thickness on a chart at any opticians.

    Hope Ive helped.
