I am looking for a high school in US to finish my senior year (i am junior exchange student right now). I heard that only abt 5% of the HS have the right to issue I-20. I can't apply to private school bcz its' to expensive, and I also plan to get full ride to unversity. I am looking for schools preferably in Soutth Carolina, or maybe in San-Francisco, California.

  1. All learning institutions who accept international students will issue I-20s because all international students must have an I-20. If a school does not issue one then they do not accept international students.

Just remember that if you attend a public high-school you are limited to 12 months of study i.e. you can only attend a U.S. high school for 12 months.

  2. Actually, any of them CAN issue it, it's just that most of them won't bother. It's much easier and safer for them to go through exchange organizations.

Also, you will have to change your visa to an F-1 and that's expensive. You have to show proof of financial independence which can be around $25,000 I believe. This could end up being quite expensive. Plus, you'd have to find someplace to live and without being in an exchange program, provide your own insurance and probably pay room and board.

You would be better off to see if your exchange program will let you extend for another year, or find another program to come over on.

Of course while it's nice to know you "Plan" on a full ride scholarship, don't always bet on obtaining one! So, save your money!
