I am looking at getting a Jumper, which would mean i would be selling my current horse. I am selling my current horse just because she does dressage and i am no longer into dressage i do jumping now. Which of these 2 horses do you think would be a better jumper in the long run, and which do you think i should buy. Also if you can, tell me which horse do u think will be able to compete in higher level jumping AKA be able to jump higher. Both horses have videos.

  1. Wizard is a wonderful beautiful horse! Lots of steady reserve, good form a good hunter--a lifetime of dependable service with him. Just my style, form not so good, but the fire and speed mixed with the ability to clear the jumps with good time will bring the jumping ribbons.

  2. I would get Wizard. Just my Style almost didnt listen a few times. Its hard to see but if you watched close enough and can spot that you could see it.

ha ha my horse caused me 650. and that was with tack, hay, mineral blocks, brush and pick. but she is just a trail horse. but she is AWESOME! i love her! plus she is a gourges appy and im going to enter her in shows next summer.

  3. I would go with Wizard he looks cool and rare at the same time. He also looks very talented and is young so I say pick Wizard but that's my opinion, you should follow your heart :)

  4. No offense but i think you should keep your horse i mean you could train your horse to do more

  5. I would go for Just My Style!

  6. Oh my gosh, Wizard is beautiful!  I haven't seen a black and white paint in a long time.  WOW!

  7. I would go for Just My Style, she/he is pretty and jumps good.

  8. i think that if you can afford to say only 10-15k than it doesn't matter what you get - you should take your trainer and test ride them first.

p.s. when i got my first horse i had to pay for it and a $1500 was too much. i got a $800 21 y/o morgan and where great together, just remember money doesn't buy happiness. and there is no alternative to hard work, practie and patience.

  9. They both look like great horses. I would get Wizard because he would stand out more for the judge. It is hard to find a flashy jumping horse. Get Wizard and you will definetly have a good chance of wining. Ride both, and see what one you like because chances are, you will like one more than another.

    Hope I helped,

    HJB

  10. the first horse has worse comformation but i think in the long run he is the most versitile and has been trained more correctly. He looks to be more balanced and more sensitive to the aids than the bay. He would make a good dressage, eventer, hunter, or possibly jumper. Where as i think they are trying to do jumpers with the  second horse and it isn't even good at it. I think they must have taken some short cuts in its training. I would do some more looking to if i were you. The economy sucks and that is alot of money to pay for a horse right now. Especially a paint.

    Good luck searching.

  11. I'm going to be unpopular here and say that I much prefer the bay horse. He knows his job & looks to be very careful over fences. Also he has some experience, and for your first jumper, you want one who knows more than you do! Hes doing the level 3/4's and making it look easy. I like that he appears to be ridden by an amateur in the videos.

The paint? He's too young, too green. Thats a pro ride? Ick! He's rushy and rude. He had some horrible distances. I don't want a 4 year old to be jumping so much. What age did he start at, I wonder?

The posters who said he would make a good impression on the judge? In jumpers, the judge is a stopwatch - no one cares what it looks like. And no, he does not look like a hunter either!

Jumpers are not won by the fastest horse, they are won by the most controlled horse.  My money is on the bay!

  12. They both have lots of potential... ride both and see which you prefer. I think you will do best on Wizard, as he is younger and jumps higher than Just My Style

  13. i think Wizard is your best bet... he is more attentive, together, and listens to your leg. Wizard also picks up his feet, unlike JMS. His color will also help you stand out during a show, as not very many paints do jumpers.

    good luck!

    =)

  14. i like both so i would take a ride on them and see which one you feel a better connection with

  15. I would go for Wizard. Just My Style seems a little tougher, especially if you are coming off of dressage. Good luck!!!!!!! ;)

  16. For the money, Wizard is more appealing to me. He doesn't seem so spooky as Just My Style - Also, Wizard's jumping form, as well as flat-work seems more appealing. He collects / lengthens a lot better than JMS. :)
