  1. My hope is for Street Sense.

  2. Street Sense has every chance, but Curlin should get a much better trip this time.  I think the trifecta will have the same three horses as the derby, but the order may be a little different.  I'd play Street Sense, Curlin/SS, C, Hard Spun/SS, C, HS.  Circular Quay seems  the most likely spoiler.

  3. Bill,

As it's nigh on impossible to say with certainty what "will" happen in any given horse race, the best I can do is provide my best estimate of each horses chance to win.

    Street Sense - 42%

    Hard Spun - 25%

    Circular Quay - 6%

    other horses....about 4.5% each.

So, its liable to pretty much resemble a replay of the Kentucky Derby, and make Street Sense a decent wager at odds of anything over 7/5....3/1 on Hard Spun and 15/1 on Circular Quay. Hard Spun may jump out on top, but he will have company on the lead, so Street Sense is likely to prevail in late-stretch, after HS tires.

As any jockey or trainer will tell you, "horse racing is a funny game," which is their way of reminding us railbirds that "you can always eat your bettin' money, but should never bet your eatin' money!" Good Luck!

  4. The preakness tends to be rather formal compared with the Derby, so if it didn't take too much out of them, it will probably be one of the top 3 fininshers from the Derby.  If not, look for a fresh horse.  After the Derby, the big money is usually in the Belmont.  Three races in 5 weeks, with the mile and half distance.  Anything can happen in that race and usually does.  Anyone remember War Emblem losing to Sarava?  ( I still kick myself for not betting him on the nose at 70-1).  Anyways, good luck to all.

  5. As dominant as Street Sence was in the Derby its hard to think any other horse will even be close... it looked like he was giving them a head start and then turned on the after burnners... my money is on Street sence

  6. I wonder how Circular Quay is going to prerform at the Preakness.  I never even saw he was entered until the drawing yesterday.

My pick is going to be for Street Sense, or Curlin

  7. the fastest one..

  8. HARD SPUN WILL WIN THE PREAKNESS. i think street sense has ran his hard race for the month and will not have enough energy for hard spun this time.Hard spun will win with circular quay second, c.p .west  third, king of the roxy fourth.then flying first class then  street sense then xchanger.

  9. I think it will come down to a stretch dual with Curlin and Street Sense. I'm going to pick Curlin over Street Sense over Circular Quay and CP West for the trifecta and superfecta.

  10. Curlin

  11. Street Sense by at least a comfortable 3 lenghts as the early pace shatters entering the final turn and Borel makes a four-wide drive to the wire.

  12. No doubt Street Sense will have an easy time of it. He had the perfect trip in a crowdwd field of twenty and this time there will be only nine horses to navigate through. He was pulling away at the end of the Derby, so he'll have plenty left at the end of the Preakness. They'll try to block him, so again,he may have to go wide, and if they set a slow pace, it'll be to his advantage.

  13. Street Sense!!!
